Tuition rules for EU citizens

Italian public universities charge tuition that is largely income-based (progressive ISEE system), so many students pay low fees and top performers may be fully exempt. EU/EEA students are generally treated on the same basis as Italian students. Public-university tuition is commonly cited at roughly €900–€4,000 per year; private institutions are far higher.

Public universities

Income-based tuition; ranges commonly cited at €900–€4,000 per year.

Private universities

Private institutions charge higher tuition (€6,000–€20,000+ per year).

By degree level

  • Bachelor's: Income-based; verify per institution.
  • Master's: Income-based; verify per institution.
